The Art Slide Library (ASL), in collaboration with the Center for Digital Initiatives, provides scanning services for faculty who need digital images of visual culture for teaching. A local image database, The Brown University Instructional Image Collection, is available via Luna Insight software. Faculty members may contact ASL staff for the login to access the Fairuse Collection within Luna Insight.

The Art Slide Library’s collections of approximately 300,000 slides and 38,000 photographs remain available. Representing art and art-related subjects, including architecture and archaeology, the slides and photographs may be borrowed by faculty and students for use in Brown University courses.

The Art Slide Library staff offers research consultations by appointment to students who are writing papers or creating projects on art-related topics. In addition, anyone needing images of visual culture may ask the ASL staff for an orientation to the slide and photograph collections, and/or demonstrations of Luna Insight, ARTstor, and other image resources.

The Art Slide Library is located on the 4th floor of List Art Center. The List Art Center was designed by Philip Johnson and completed in 1971.
