Thanks to a two-year pilot program from the Brown University Library, Brown alumni can now stay up-to-date with a wide variety of news and research from the convenience of any computer with internet access. The Library has contracted with EBSCO Inc. to give alumni access to three distinct resource collections:
Alumni Borrowing Cards provide book borrowing privileges free of charge; however, access is denied to many databases and to Interlibrary Loan. Some free fulltext online books may be found through services such as the Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg and/or Google Books.
The pages below list some free search tools but these generally do not provide fulltext journal materials; these materials must be obtained through your public library or a commercial information broker such as http://www.infotrieve.com/ or http://www.researchsolutions.com/.

EasyBib: This web service, founded by a Brown alum, allows you to maintain citations in MLA format, download them to Word, and autocite websites and books. Additional "premium" services, available for a fee, allow you to include Turabian and APA formats, as well as switching between formats.
