Robert D. Solomon '71 University Archives Endowment Fund

Established in 1998 by Robert D. Solomon '71 for the preservation of materials in the University Archives.

The income from this fund provided conservation of a presentation drawing from the Gorham collection, and more recently, supported the restoration, conservation and digitization of 16mm films from the John Nicholas Brown Family Photographs Collection documenting family travels. These 15 reels of film were beginning to show signs of deterioration known as vinegar syndrome. They were created in 1928 and 1936 to document 2 different trips the Brown family took to Greece, traveling on their private yacht. The films depict the major sights in the Greek islands and life on board the boat including shots of the crew. The Robert D. Solomon '71 University Archives Endowment Fund helped to restore and preserve these films for the future.
