Thomas W. Berry Library Fund

Established in 1998 by Thomas W. Berry '69 P'92 '96 '99 for preservation of the humanities collection.

The endowment helped to support a project with the Northeast Document Conservation Center to conserve the Garibaldi Panorama and script, a rare surviving 19th century painted scroll that was used in a traveling show as a form of public entertainment. One of the longest paintings in the world stands at over 4 feet high and is painted on both sides. It depicts the life of Giuseppe Garibaldi, known for his role in the unification of Italy. This painted scroll on paper was painstakingly conserved, repaired and digitized.
