In Memory of Irene Burwick Grace, Class of 1930

Irene Burwick Grace (1909-2010) was the first in her family to attend Brown University. She was followed by her son, Norman D. Grace, MD, Class of 1958, and his children, Robert C. Grace, Class of 1984, and Stephanie L. Grace, Class of 1987. Irene's other son, Alan J. Grace, was Class of 1962, and his children, Karen Grace Corken and Daniel C. Grace, were Class of 1994 and 1996, respectively. Completing the Brown legacy to date are Irene's daughter, Miriam Grace Silverman, Class of 1966, and granddaughter, Abby Silverman Fischer, Class of 2001.

As her obituary states, she was the adored daughter of Fannie and Carl Burwick and the beloved wife of the late Joseph Grace. Irene grew up in Worcester, was a graduate of Brown University and was the co-owner of Grace Wayside Furniture in Shrewsbury before retiring to Florida. She was a president of Temple Emanuel's Sisterhood in Worcester and a leader in local Brown Club activities. Irene was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a role model for her children and grandchildren and a wise, generous and loyal friend who always put the needs of others before her own. Vibrant and fun-loving, Irene could light up a room with her sparkle and warmth.
