The library's new search service does not replace the library's existing services such as Josiah (library catalog) or database and ejournal lists. What distinguishes the new service is the ability to search across previously separate systems from a single search box and get back fast and relevant results. See: http://library.brown.edu/find/Discover/About
InRhode is the combined catalog of the HELIN Consortium (RI academic libraries) and Josiah. Should Josiah be down, information about Brown holdings can be found in the the InRhode catalog. Request items from InRhode directly from a Josiah results screen when you see this icon -
College Hill Libraries (CHiL)
Brown University & Rhode Island School of Design
Center for Digital Scholarship. Search the CDS catalog to discover the Library's digitized collections.
Borrow Direct allows you to place online requests for materials that are not available at Brown. You need your 14-digit library barcode to place requests. These services are generally faster than Interlibrary Loan but materials are not renewable. The Library's new easyBorrow system will search Borrow Direct as well as InRhode on your behalf and place a request with the most appropriate service.
