Fellowships and Internships

The CDS fellowship and internship programs are open to scholars and students interested in pursuing independent research in collaboration with CDS staff, or in getting first-hand experience working on aspects of digital project development and methods. We offer several programs:

Digital Scholarship Research Collaboration Award: The Digital Scholarship Research Collaboration Award is a part of the the Karen T. Romer Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award (UTRA) program, and funds collaborative projects students undertake with Brown professors. The award provides members of the faculty with research assistants to help them in research projects not necessarily connected with the operation of instructional courses. These projects should introduce qualified undergraduates to the methods and rewards of scholarly work. In making these appointments, preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a high level of motivation and interest in the field(s) represented in the project, and who bring ideas and background that strengthen the probability of a collaborative partnership. These collaborative projects can benefit students in several important ways: by providing valuable academic training, allowing students to test their interest in pursuing an academic career, and providing a means to contribute directly to research. Information on how to apply is available from the Dean of the College pages.

Internships in Digital Scholarship: The Brown University Library Center for Digital Scholarship invites proposals for internships focusing on digital scholarship and/or digital libraries. Internships are open to students and recent graduates seeking exposure to the practical and theoretical aspects of digital scholarly project development, and library school students seeking a for-credit practicum as part of their degree program. Internships aim to provide practical experience with reflection on theory and methods over a specific period. In many cases, internships may be designed to meet the needs of the intern based on requirements for credit and experience level. Applications for Internships are accepted on a rolling basis.
