Finding and Using Journals in the Brown University Library
Whiile a few journals in Holocaust Studies are now available online in full text electronic format, the majority are not. Below is a listing of pertinent journals in the field held by the Brown University Library.
Journals that are available in electronic format are linked to the JOSIAH record, through which you can obtain access to our e-holdings. For links to specific e-journals listed below, click on the word "electronic" or see the separate page link for "E-JOURNALS" on the menu to your left.
For journals that are available in print format, a call number is provided below. You will need to retrieve the specific volume from the stacks in order to find the article you want. In case you need to make copies, photocopy machines are available, notably outside the computer cluster on Level 2 of the Rockefeller Library; you can make copies using your Brown card. Machines are available to add money to your card for this purpose.
Pertinent articles relating to Holocaust Studies can be identified through Historical Abstracts. Some journals for which there is electronic access can be searched full text through Academic Search Premier, Project Muse or Ethnic News Watch. Follow the links at the bottom of the page for further information on these databases.
Please note that some of the journals below are available only in print, some are available only in electronic format, and a few are available in both print and electronic format.

Ethnic NewsWatch and ENW: A History
1980-present; Ethnic NewsWatch is an interdisciplinary, bilingual (English and Spanish) and comprehensive full text database of the newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press beginning in 1990. ENW: A History covers the years 1960-1989. The experiences and contributions of African Americans, Hispanics, Native Peoples, Asian Americans, European Americans, Jewish Americans and Arab Americans illuminate three critical decades in U.S. and world history.
1954-present; article abstracts and citations of books and dissertations on the history of the world from 1450 to the present. Excludes the U. S. and Canada.
Project Muse is a searchable database that provides access to the full text of journals published by Johns Hopkins University Press and other university presses in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics. Consult the online tables of contents for holdings, as coverage varies for each title. As of 6/2004, includes links to JSTOR.
