Introduction to THIRST for Engineering Ugrads
Are you an undergraduate doing a research project with a member of the Engineering faculty? This workshop Tools to Help with Information Research in Science and Technology (THIRST) is a hands-on opportunity to learn about literature surveying your topic and discovering relevant information with key resources, which may include Compendex, IEEE Xplore, Web of Science, and Knovel Library. Learn how to get what you need through Brown University Library services. Identify books and articles that need follow up. Get an introduction to software to manage citations. Registrants should also come prepared to work on the literature discovery process for their own topic with a copy of a key article.
The workshop is intended to be an overview of literature research, in general, and of searching for and retrieving engineering information with practical examples. This website provides links to both information search techniques and also information tools for the engineer. The workshop participant can use the links to review workshop content and to see additional resources.
