Definition

Both the House and Senate need to approve of a bill before it is passed on to the governor to become a law. The vote for the bill can be a voice vote or a roll call vote, where each person's vote is noted.

How to Understand the Document

In the Journal, votes are given. However, simple voice votes may not list how each person voted.

  • The numbering system is the respective Journal, Volume, Number. Search by bill. For example, on page two in the Journal of the House of Representatives, Volume 132, No. 74, there is the roll call vote on the override of the Governor's veto of bill 2005 - H 6052 SUB A. Search by bill number.
