Introduction to THIRST for Applied Mathematics Ugrads
Are you an undergraduate doing a research project with a member of the Applied Math faculty? This workshop Tools to Help with Information Research in Science and Technology (THIRST) is a hands-on opportunity to learn about literature surveying your topic and discovering relevant information with key resources, which may include MathSciNet, ACM Digital Library, Web of Science, and SIAM. Learn how to get what you need through Brown University Library services. Identify books and articles that need follow up. Get an introduction to software to manage citations. Registrants should also come prepared to work on the literature discovery process for their own topic with a copy of a key article or dissertaion in print.
The workshop is intended to be an overview of literature research, in general, and of searching for and retrieving applied mathematics information with practical examples. This website provides links to both information search techniques and also information tools for the applied mathematician. The workshop participant can use the links to review workshop content and to see additional resources.
