David J. Zucconi was a lifelong advocate of Brown University. Born and raised in New York City, he came to Brown as a freshman in the fall of 1951 In the next four years he won eight varsity letters in baseball, football, and track. He twice made the Dean's List and, after ROTC training at Brown, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force.
Zucconi was an irrepressible supporter of Brown, and returned to campus in 1959 to serve as an admission officer. He next served as associate director of Alumni Relations, then in the Development Office as associate director for major gifts, and then as director of the Brown Sports Foundation. He was an unrelenting a champion of the university until his death in January, 2003.
The David J. Zucconi Varsity Strength & Conditioning Center was named in his memory in 2015.
