Thomas Tisch graduated from Brown University in the class of 1976. He was elected a member of Brown's Board of Trustees in 2002, and in 2007 he became the 20th Chancellor of university.
Tisch is managing partner of Four Partners, an investment firm in New York City. He serves on the boards of directors of kgb inc. and Sears Holding Corporation. Additionally he serves on the boards of trustees for the New York University Langone Medical Center and KIPP New York. Tisch received a Bachelor of Arts from Brown in 1976 and earned the J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1979.
Chancellor Tisch's unconventional portrait was painted by Matthew Watson, a New York artist who lives and works in Brooklyn. The artist received his MFA from Columbia University and has presented two solo exhibitions at the Joe Sheftel Gallery. He has participated in group exhibitions at Metro Pictures, New York, NY, Oakland University Art Gallery, Rochester, MI and Palazzo Cavour, organized by Maurizio Cattelan in Turin, Italy, among others. His work was included in the Kyiv Biennale in Kyiv, Ukraine.
