Foster Hall Reproductions |
|
The Foster Hall Reproductions of Stephen Foster's music is one of 1,000 sets of three slip-cased volumes of music in a specially made steel cabinet, published and distributed at no cost to libraries throughout the United States by the staff of Foster Hall, University of Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1933. Box 1 has a 32-page book describing the project and indexing -- by title, author, publication year, publisher, dedication, first line and classificiation -- the reproductions, each of which has a special watermark. These three boxes contain "the songs, compositions and arrangements of [Stephen Foster]... an even two hundred discovered Foster songs and compositions, to which are added all known arrangements of his own work and also his arrangements of the work of others." A few more have been added over the years. |
