Green<\/a> is the Carlos Manuel de C\u00e9spedes Professor of Latin American History and the author or co-editor of eleven books on Brazil and Latin America. He is currently the Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/openingthearchives\/en\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/openingthearchives\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Opening the Archives Project<\/a>, the National Co-Coordinator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracybrazil.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.democracybrazil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">US Network for Democracy in Brazil<\/a>, and the President of the Board of Directors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.braziloffice.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.braziloffice.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Brazil Office<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served as the Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/watson.brown.edu\/clacs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies<\/a> at Brown University from 2005 to 2008 and the Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/watson.brown.edu\/brazil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brazil Initiative<\/a> from 2012 to 2020. The collection documents the work and role of BRASA to support and promote Brazilian studies in all fields, especially in the humanities and social sciences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/brasilianafilms\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/brasilianafilms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brasiliana Film Collection<\/a><\/strong>: In 2012 Prof. James Green collaborated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemateca.org.br\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cinemateca.org.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cinemateca Brasileira<\/a> to build one of the largest collections of Brazilian films in the United States. This generous donation, held at the Rockefeller Library, features more than 800 Brazilian feature films, documentaries, cartoons, shorts, and other materials held at the Cinemateca. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/brasiliana\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/03\/MilitaryDictatorshipBrazilCollection.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/brasiliana\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/03\/MilitaryDictatorshipBrazilCollection.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Military Dictatorship in Brazil Collection (1964-1985)<\/a><\/strong>: The collection holds printed documents created during and about the period of the military dictatorship in Brazil, including books and leaflets (1,294 items), periodicals (49 titles and 1,257 copies) and press reports (50 folders). In addition, there is a set of 258 digitized Brazilian and foreign opposition periodicals, both newspapers and magazines.
