The Brown University Library and the TAPAS Project are seeking a
\ndeveloper to lead the technical implementation of the TAPAS service.
\nWorking with other members of the Brown Digital Repository development
\nteam, the developer will install and customize an instance of
\nIslandora (Drupal and Fedora), and will develop functionality for
\npublishing, describing, analyzing, visualizing, and sharing scholarly
\ntexts. The developer will collaborate with Brown systems and
\ndevelopment staff, staff at Wheaton College, and other TAPAS
\nparticipants, to create, refine, and implement ideas for building the
\nservice, and will work with those groups to test and roll out new web
\napplications. Additionally, the developer will customize Drupal and
\nthe underlying Fedora repository to enable a broad set of interactions
\nto support the publication of encoded texts, and will develop an API
\nto provide programmatic access to TAPAS data.<\/p>\n

\n(http:\/\/www.tapasproject.org<\/a>), is a new community service for
\nscholars and other creators of TEI materials who need a place to
\npublish and archive their data and ensure it remains accessible over
\ntime. TAPAS will provide repository services with a user-friendly
\ninterface for contributing, managing, and publishing TEI data, and
\nwill also offer training and supporting services for those who need
\nhelp developing and publishing their projects.<\/p>\n
\n Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience
\n 2-5 years of demonstrated experience and proficiency
\nplanning, developing, and maintaining web sites and back-end systems.
\n Substantial experience with PHP; Drupal experience strongly preferred.
\n Familiarity with XML, XSLT, Solr, and Fedora Commons desirable.
\n Experience developing web applications using APIs and web services.
\n Familiarity with TEI & common metadata standards (e.g., MODS,
\nDublin Core) desirable
\n Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully as
\npart of a distributed team.<\/p>\n
\ncontingent on funding. We are also willing to consider part time work
\narrangements.<\/p>\n
