Along with her husband, <strong>Wilson Silva<\/strong>, she was a member of a clandestine leftist insurgency group called <em>\u201cNational Liberation Alliance\u201d (ALN &#8211; Alian\u00e7a Libertadora Nacional).<\/em><br \/>\nIn April 22nd of 1974, at the age of 32, she went to \u201cPra\u00e7a da Rep\u00fablica\u201d to meet her husband for lunch after work, and the couple was never seen again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n<h3 class=\"case-title\">Case 1700: Arbitrary detention\u00a0of Dr. Ernest Hamburger and Amelia Imperio Hamburger<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-32 case-image-right\" src=\"https:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/iachrbrazil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/05\/Hamburger.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/><\/h3>\n<p class=\"case-description\">On December 5th, 1970, the Hamburgers were arrested for &#8220;an attempted crime against the national security&#8221;, for giving refuge to terrorists from the National Liberation Alliance (ALN). The Brazilian Government denied accusations by stating the country&#8217;s National Security Law as an enforcer against clandestine organizations of which the couple was deemed a liaison, and therefore had been arrested.
