The journey will  begin at 5:15pm in the John Hay Library with a viewing of <em><strong>Divine Land, Civilization and People: An Exhibition from Chinese Collections<\/em><\/strong>,  displaying books, pictures and other materials from the Library\u2019s East Asian Collection,  John Hay Library\u2019s Special Collections, and Curator Li Wang\u2019s personal  collection. Especially, the exhibit includes a variety of objects: folk new year\u2019s  paintings, muppet lions, Peking opera makeup, and more. Wang will give a brief talk accompanied by Chinese Lantern Festival refreshments.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">At 6pm, participants will visit List Art Center\u2019s <em><strong>The Shape of Good Fortune: Welcoming the Year of the Dragon <\/em><\/strong>where materials curated by History of Art &amp; Architecture students, from Professor Maggie Bickford&#8217;s class, will be on view. <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">The evening will culminate with two exhibitions at the Haffenreffer: <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/brown.edu\/Facilities\/Haffenreffer\/exhibits-manning\/CraftingOrigins.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><em>Crafting Origins: \u00a0Creativity and Continuity in Indigenous Taiwan<\/em><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><em> <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><em><span style=\"font-style: normal\">featuring contemporary crafts by indigenous tribes in Taiwan as well as materials culled by a 1960s linguistic anthropologist<\/span><\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">; and <a href=\"http:\/\/brown.edu\/Facilities\/Haffenreffer\/exhibits-manning\/TaoistGodsfromChina.htm\">Taoist Gods from China: \u00a0Ceremonial Paintings from the Mien<\/a> including paintings from the Museum&#8217;s collection dating to the 17th century depicting the major gods of the Taoist religion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">The Chinese Lantern Festival (Yuanxiao jie \u5143\u5bb5\u7bc0 or \u5143\u5bb5\u8282, \u201cYuanxiao Festival\u201d) falls on the fifteenth day of the new year by the lunar calendar\u2014also the day of the first full moon\u2014marking the end of Chinese New Year celebrations. Come celebrate with us! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">This event is free and open to the public.
