[Brown University] \u2013<\/strong> Brown University Library will host actor Jude Ciccolella &#8217;69 at 7pm on Monday, October 15, 2012, for the<strong> 9th Annual Don Wilmeth Endowed Lectureship in American Theatre<\/strong> in Leeds Theater. The program will be followed by a reception in Lyman Hall foyer. The event and reception are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Jude Ciccolella graduated from Brown University in 1969 with a BA in Philosophy. After two years of social work with the Albany County Department of Social Services in New York State, he earned his MFA in Acting at Temple University in 1973. In 1981, he became a member of the Ensemble Studio Theater, studied with Artistic Director Curt Dempster, and performed in a number of their productions.\u00a0Jude was invited into the Actors Studio in 1995. He has worked with several well-known film directors: Sidney Lumet, Jonathan Demme, Oliver Stone, John Sayles, Joel Schumacher, Carl Franklin, Frank Darabont, Chris Rock, and Robert Rodrigues. His films include <em>Shawshank Redemption, Glengarry Glen Ross, World Trade Center, Beloved, The Manchurian Candidate, City of Hope, Mad Love, Sin City, Julia,<\/em> and <em>Premonition<\/em>. On stage in New York, Jude starred in \u201cThose the River Keeps\u201d, written and directed by David Rabe, in two critically acclaimed productions of \u201cCurse of the Starving Class\u201d by Sam Shepard, playing \u201cEllis\u201d, and later playing \u201cWeston\u201d at the Signature Theater Company, in Brown graduate Richard Dresser\u2019s \u201cBelow the Belt\u201d, and in Gary Richard\u2019s \u201cThe Root\u201d. In an award winning short, \u201cLast Call\u201d, produced and directed by his friend Robert Bailey (class of 1970), Ciccolella received best actor awards at the Hermosa and Breckenridge Film Festivals. With Co-Artistic Director Bill Bolender,\u00a0Jude founded the Eumenides Group in LA. They have staged Steve Tesich\u2019s \u201c The Speed of Darkness\u201d, John Tuttle\u2019s \u201cDrift\u201d, and Richard Dresser\u2019s \u201c The Pursuit of Happiness\u201d. He is probably best known for his TV work on <em>24<\/em> as chief of staff to two presidents&#8212;&#8211;from opposing parties&#8212;-Mike Novick. He has also appeared on<em> NCIS, Law and Order, Monk , Cold Case, The Guardian, Prison Break, Medium, the Mentalist, Life, House, CSI, Burn Notice, Touch<\/em>, and many other shows.\u00a0Jude has produced and performed on four albums of original music, and the Jude Ciccolella Band plays regularly in Burbank.\u00a0Jude is married to the wonderful actress Sylva Kelegian.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Don Wilmeth Endowed Lectureship<\/strong> was established in honor of Professor Don Wilmeth and his monumental contribution to the study of theatre at Brown. The lectureship supports an annual lecture series on American theatre.
