Stoddard, Brown class of 1957, and former curator of the Harris Collection,\u00a0will speak at Brown University this fall.\u00a0For the last fifty years, Stoddard has served as a curator of Houghton Library, taught classes at Harvard, and published extensively.At 12:30pm, on Wednesday, October 24, Stoddard will discuss his time working in the John Carter Brown Library with the talk\u00a0\u201cThe education of a bibliographer by Lawrence Wroth\u201d as part of the JCB&#8217;s Wednesday Fellows&#8217; Lunch Talk series.\u00a0\u00a0And, at 7pm on Thursday, October 25, in the Lownes Room of the John Hay Library he will present \u201cHow I discovered that Brown is the University of books.\u201d This talk will examine Stoddard&#8217;s research that contributed to his descriptive bibliography of early American poetry, which he began forty years ago at the John Hay Library.<\/p>\n<p>An exhibit of early American poetry,\u00a0<em>The Work of a Lifetime: \u00a0Roger Stoddard, Early American Poetry, and the Collections of the Libraries at Brown University<\/em>, curated by Stoddard will simultaneously be on view October 12 through December 14 in the John Hay Library&#8217;s Gammell Gallery and North Gallery exhibition rooms.<\/p>\n<p>These events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<div><strong>Contact:<\/strong> Rosemary L.
