She and her family left Egypt as refugees when she was a small child, an experience that helped shape and inform her two recent memoirs, <em>The Arrogant Years<\/em> and <em>The Man in the White Sharkskin Suit<\/em>, published by Ecco\/HarperCollins. &#8220;Sharkskin,&#8221; which received the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature, has been translated in several languages including French and Arabic, and has been very popular in Egypt. \u00a0She is also the co-author of C<em>hildren of the Flames: Dr. Josef Mengele <\/em>and the<em> Untold Story of the Twins of Auschwitz<\/em>, which has been translated into nearly a dozen languages.
