Part of the larger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicornsinresidence.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Unicorns in Residence: Providence<\/em><\/a> initiative, the colloquium will feature a panel discussion with Brown professors from different disciplines engaging in scholarly inquiry into the unicorn legend. The colloquium also launches the opening of an exhibit of the same name. A reception will follow the colloquium. This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Brown professors participating in the colloquium:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Johanna Hanink, Robert Gale Noyes Assistant Professor of Humanities, Classics Department<\/li>\n<li>Any Remensnyder, History Department<\/li>\n<li>Felipe Rojas Silva, Assistant Professor of Archaeology and the Ancient World, Assistant Professor of Egyptology and Assyriology, Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong><em>Unicorn Found: Science, Literature, and the Arts <\/em>exhibit<\/strong> will be on display in the lobby cases and Willis Reading Room cases of the John Hay Library from March 11 \u2013 July 31, 2015. The exhibit will feature unicorn-related artifacts, objects, images, and text from the specialized collections of the Brown University Library, the Fleet Library at RISD, the RISD Museum, the Providence Athenaeum, the Providence Public Library, and the John Carter Brown Library.<\/p>\n<p>A fun and educational exploration of the unicorn from ancient to modern times, the<em> Unicorn Found <\/em>exhibit traces the history of how unicorns have been represented, exploring the myth and manifestation of the mysterious creature within different historical and cultural contexts. Exhibit artifacts depict the transforming imagery of the unicorn, from initial investigations into its existence, to modern design motifs.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public can visit the exhibit at the Hay during the library\u2019s open hours, <a href=\"http:\/\/library.brown.edu\/hay\/access.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unicorns In Residence: Providence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Unicorn Found: Science, Literature, and the Arts <\/em>colloquium and exhibit are part of a larger community building project happing throughout the city of Providence.
