The Rock is undergoing several projects to update key spaces and improve the Library\u2019s overall functionality and safety.\u00a0All core services and operations will proceed as normal during all phases of the work<\/strong>. Library hours will remain the same and can be viewed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Current lobby cafe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As most of the exterior work on the building is complete, activity is shifting to the inside of the building. Renovations on the Rock lobby will begin shortly and are expected to be completed by the start of second semester. The renovation will include a new caf\u00e9<\/strong> area and enhanced lounge<\/strong> areas.<\/p>\n

Current lobby lounge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

By Thanksgiving, furniture from the lobby and caf\u00e9 areas will be removed. The lobby caf\u00e9 will close at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 20<\/span><\/strong>. It will reopen in the lobby in a reduced capacity\u00a0on\u00a0Monday, November 30<\/span> and will remain open\u00a0through exams.<\/strong> The new lobby caf\u00e9 is projected to open at the beginning of the second semester.<\/p>\n

Lobby exhibit cases, located under the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Credo, will be moved to level A during the week of November 16<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

During the week of November 16, the exhibit cases<\/strong> that have been located under the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Credo in the lobby will be moved to level A<\/strong> under the chandelier. The cases currently contain the exhibit \u201c\u2019Trash of the Veriest Sort\u2019: Challenges to Adventures of Huckleberry Finn<\/em>.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The Periodicals Reading Room before undergoing construction to become the Digital Studio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Work on the Rock\u2019s new Digital Studio<\/strong> (adjacent to the Digital Scholarship Lab) is also beginning, with the expectation that this space will be open near the beginning of the second semester, 2016. As this project moves forward, there will be some construction noise in the area. Please bear this in mind if you have or are thinking of having a class or event in the DSL.<\/p>\n

Facilities Management and the contractors are making every effort to minimize the impact of these projects on library users (e.g., scheduling the noisiest work during early hours before the library opens). Nevertheless, much of this work must be performed during hours when the building is occupied. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and ask that you bear with us during the construction phase as we work to improve the condition of the building and the facilities and operations within the Rock.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
