Actor and author Timothy Mooney\u00a0will deliver the Annual Mel and Cindy Yoken Cultural Series Lecture<\/strong> on Monday, April 11\u00a0at 4\u00a0p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium at 85 Waterman Street (BERT Building). For the lecture, Mooney will reprise his one-man play, Moli\u00e8re Than Thou<\/em>,\u00a0in which he\u00a0explores some of Moli\u00e8re’s most humorous speeches.<\/p>\n

Moli\u00e8re Than Thou<\/em><\/strong> finds Moli\u00e8re left without a cast when all of his fellow performers happen to consume “the same sort of shellfish” at one of the local public inns. Rather than refund the box office income, Moli\u00e8re offers to perform a “greatest hits” of sorts, and leads the audience, which occasionally participates, through a hilarious succession of favorite speeches that trace his illustrious career. Plays represented include\u00a0Tartuffe<\/em>, Don Juan<\/em>, The Doctor In Spite of Himself<\/em>, The Precious Young Maidens<\/em>, The Misanthrope<\/em>, and The School for Wives<\/em>.\u00a0Throughout, “Moli\u00e8re” will\u00a0explain his working process.<\/p>\n

\"mooneytimh1\"Timothy Mooney<\/strong> is the author of The Big Book of Moli\u00e8re Monologues <\/em>and the textbook\u00a0Acting at the Speed of Life<\/em>. He has adapted Shakespeare in Breakneck Hamlet<\/em> and Shakespeare’s Histories: Ten Epic Plays at a Breakneck Pace!<\/em>\u00a0During the past fifteen years, Tim\u00a0has performed Moli\u00e8re Than Thou<\/em> over 500 times. He\u00a0is the former founder and editor of The Script Review<\/em> and the former Artistic Director of Chicago’s Stage Two Theatre, where he produced nearly fifty plays in five years, including seventeen iambic pentameter variations of\u00a0Moli\u00e8re’s plays, which have been produced over 150 times around the world. His Doctor in Spite of Himself<\/em> took third place in the Scottish Community Drama Association National Festival.<\/p>\n
