Through the eyes of young Neto, the viewer is given an authentic insider&#8217;s look at the diverse people of Guatemala and the historical events in the mid-1950&#8217;s that have shaped their destiny.<\/p>\n<p><i><\/i><strong>Voice of a Mountain (United States), 2008.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Voice of a mountain is a video documentary of the lives of rural Guatemalan coffee farmers who took arms against their government in a civil war that lasted 36 years. &#8230; The documentary gives insight into their motives for joining an armed conflict as interviews reveal personal accounts of struggle, hope, tragedy, and the fruits of their resistance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yankee Years (United States), 1995.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Reviews the economic and military role of the U.S. in various Latin American countries from the late 1890&#8217;s to 1958. Concentrates on the connection between dictatorship and U.S. interests in Cuba and Guatemala. Details growing national self-awareness which fueled rising hostility to American interference.
