Galkin Collection<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Otte_Wallish\">Otte Wallish<\/a> moved to Palestine from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Czechoslovakia<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at the beginning of the World War II and opened a design studio in Tel Aviv. In 1948, leaders of the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency for Palestine commissioned him to produce the design for the scroll for Israel\u2019s Declaration of Independence, as well as the new state\u2019s first stamps. Since the name \u201cIsrael\u201d had not yet been determined, Wallish inscribed the stamps: \u201cDoar Ivri\u201d, or \u201cHebrew mail\u201d. He based the design on ancient coins from Judea. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/library.brown.edu\/create\/stamps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2016\/01\/StampEx012_6md.jpg\"><img
