Andrews Collection of U.S. First<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211;<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Day Covers<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> 1955, the World Health Organization launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Malaria_Eradication_Program\">Global Malaria Eradication Programme<\/a>. In 1961, in cooperation with the Universal Postal Union, the World Health Assembly passed a resolution to encourage international participation in a malaria-focused postage stamp issuing plan. The theme was &#8220;The World United Against Malaria,\u201d and more than 90 postal authorities produced stamps and postal materials to raise funds for eradication plans.
