Brown University has had coin collections since 1872, with the acquisition of William Blanding\u2019s collection of 937 coins and medals. Today the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brown.edu\/Departments\/Joukowsky_Institute\/resources\/coins\/\">Joukowsky Institute\u2019s collection<\/a> includes almost 10,000 ancient coins, which researchers and students use to study history and date archaeological sites.
