The group was charged with producing recommendations for the next 3-5 years for the Brown University Library. &nbsp;There were three core aspects to the team\u2019s purpose:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b>People:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Strengthen the Brown University Library community by modeling inclusive representation, trust and respect for colleagues, and peer-to-peer communication.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>Process:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Develop a shared vision by drawing on team members\u2019 expertise<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and contributions, embracing creativity and fun, synthesizing inclusive perspectives, and engaging in dialogue with stakeholders.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>Product:<\/b> Design strategic recommendations that articulate aspirational goals, align with university priorities, and respond to our communities\u2019 emerging needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The team delivered is work product to the Library in July 2018. This included revised Library mission and vision statements, a set of core values, and an initial set of draft strategic goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 1, 2018, Joseph Meisel became the new University Librarian; through the rest of 2018 and the first half of 2019, the Library undertook &#8220;Phase II&#8221; of its strategic planning process. The main purpose of this effort was to align the Library&#8217;s goals with the University&#8217;s priorities.
