Brown astronomy\u00a0professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brown.edu\/Administration\/News_Bureau\/Databases\/Encyclopedia\/search.php?serial=S0220\" target=\"_blank\">Charles H. Smiley (1903\u20131977)<\/a> had contributed detailed work on the Mayan calendar system. He also happened to keep extensive travel scrapbooks throughout his career, several of which have been <a href=\"http:\/\/library.brown.edu\/find\/Search\/Results?lookfor=Smiley%2C+Charles+H.+scrapbook&amp;type=AllFields&amp;filter[]=building%3A%22Digital+Collection%22&amp;view=list\" target=\"_blank\">digitized by the library<\/a>\u00a0(as full volumes, per page, and also as individual objects within pages). His scrapbooks preserve miscellaneous travel ephemera \u2014 ticket stubs, restaurant menus \u2014 as well as personal photographs and letters.
