Recent Gifts to the Library


The Brown University Library has received many wonderful gifts to expand its collection in recent months. While it is not possible to list every gift here, we have selected a small sampling of gifts to share with our readers.

10 boxes of photos, artwork and memorabilia belonging to the late WWII correspondent Robert Benney.

Many gifts were made to the Scott Chanchien Memorial Library Fund. Established in 2002 by members of the Class of 1992 in memory of Scott Chanchien '92, the fund supports expansion of the Library's information resources and projects concerning public service, music, or travel.

26 volumes in the fields of Latin American history and literature

17 volumes in the field of economics (mostly in Japanese)

The Irene Heneghan Stamp Collection including 93 mounted stamp albums and several hundred early 20th century U.S. postcards with cancelled one-cent stamps.

359 monograph volumes in Chinese, Japanese and English
Gift of Ying-Mao Kau, Professor, Department of Political Science

5 feet of papers, including photocopied transcriptions in Russian of reminiscences of Nikita Khrushchev, correspondence, clippings and other materials.
Gift of Sergei Khrushchev, Senior Fellow, Watson Institute for International Studies

361 volumes, primarily on World War II and the English Monarchy
Gift of D. Edward Nichols

Approximately 900 volumes in the field of American history
Gift of James Patterson, Professor Emeritus, Department of History

Approximately 15 items relating to donor's military and prisoner of war experiences in World War II.
Gift of John Pryke

The Pembroke Club of Providence made a gift in memory of Henry Weatherhead, '50, brother of Susan Weatherhead, Pembroke '42, for the Pembroke Club Book Fund.
