For the second year the Brown Alumni Association (BAA) is asking Brown University
alumni and friends to participate in Bring a Book to Brown. The BAA will
collect brand-new children's books before, during and for some weeks after
Commencement, for distribution to the "Read to Me" program at
Hasbro's Children's Hospital of Rhode Island.
"Read to Me" is a program in which volunteers read to children
awaiting appointments at Hasbro's Pediatric Clinic; after the visit each
child takes home a new book. Please keep in mind when selecting a book
for this program that many of the children are bilingual and Spanish-speaking.
You may Bring a Book to Brown in a number of ways: Call the Brown Bookstore,
800 695-2050, to charge a book or order a gift certificate. The Bookstore
is offering a 10% discount on books purchased for the program. Books may
be brought to Maddock Alumni Center, 38 Brown Street or mailed directly
to Bring a Book, Alumni Relations, Brown University,
Box 1859, 38 Brown Street, Providence, RI 02912.
