The Friends visit England
The Friends of the Library of Brown University and the Friends of the Dartmouth
College Library are planning a joint trip to England in late September.
Entitled "London, Libraries and Literary England," the trip will
include visits to libraries, sales rooms, book shops and the homes of some
of England's greatest collectors.
Though centered in London, the tour will travel to Winchester, Salisbury
and Oxford. An additional three days can be spent traveling to Manchester,
nearby Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
Throughout the travelers will be treated to experienced guides and guest
lecturers who will add an insider's touch to the tour. Among the highlights
will be a dinner at Bernard Quaritch's antiquarian bookshop and cocktails
at Old Battersea House thanks to the generosity of Timothy Forbes '76.
The departure date for the tour is September 23, 1996. The travel agent
has recently added the option of departing on September 24th if the 23rd
is not convenient for some travelers. Limited space is still available.
