Publication of Material found in the Collections of the John Hay Library<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The John Hay Library supports scholarly projects by providing broad access to digital objects and physical materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Researchers should note that compliance with copyright law is their responsibility. The John Hay Library does not hold copyright to the bulk of the materials within its holdings, and accordingly cannot legally grant permission to cite or reprint such material. For information on how to obtain copyright permission, please see How to Get Permission<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Publication permission can be granted by the John Hay Library for a limited array of materials, where the literary and artistic rights are owned by the University (as the creator) or where such rights have been legally transferred to Brown University. For materials over which Brown University holds copyright, please complete the request form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expected turnaround time is at least 8 weeks after the initial request and may take longer depending upon the complexity of the request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brown University owns the copyright to work by the following creators, listed below. These archival collections may include the work of other writers, artists, photographers, and individuals for whom Brown University does not own copyright.
