The Simon Ostrach Papers consist of professional and personal documents of scientist Simon Ostrach (1923-) and span the period from 1940-1995. Dr. Ostrach, distinguished NASA scientist and long-time member of the Case Western Reserve Faculty, received an honorary degree, Sc.D, from Brown in 1997. The bulk of the collection consists of professional documents including research files, manuscripts and galley proofs of academic papers, presentations and slides, proposals, and professional correspondence. Approximately twenty percent of the collection document Ostrach's United States Microgravity Laboratory / Surface Tension Driven Convection Experiment research. The papers also contain materials pertaining to Ostrach's activities in professional organizations, including committee membership, honors received, and conference attendance. Ostrach's personal documents constitute a minor part of the collection and include his student notebooks and theses. The endowment fund is supporting the processing of the papers.
