John Hay Professorship of Bibliography

johnhayprof

Established in 1920 by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to honor John Hay, Class of 1858, who served as the secretary to President Abraham Lincoln and Secretary of State of the United States.

The success and vitality of a library is dependent on many crucial variables, one of which is operations. In order to meet the aspirations of a world class research institution, the Brown University Library must support and develop its staff, facilities, infrastructure, and processes to ensure reliable, accessible, and transformative services, spaces, resources, expertise, and systems that can best enable scholarly success at the highest level. Endowment funds given in support of the Library's operations sustain these essential functions, allowing the Library to fulfill its mission to advance instruction, learning, and research at Brown in an environment of creativity and inclusivity.
