Brown University students are eligible for library cards at both the Providence Public Library and Providence Community Library.
How to get a public library card:
Providence Public Library: Full-time students can get a library card with an ID. For non-residents, acceptable ID includes recent student ID, course schedule, bill, plus proof of address. The Providence Public Library is located at 150 Empire Street.
Providence Community Library: Individuals whose residence falls within an OSL member community can get a Providence Community Library card (requires proof of residency such as a driver’s license, state ID card, utility bill, government correspondence). Part-time or non-permanent residents, such as military personnel, college students, or summer home renters may also be issued a full-service card. (Temporary renters shall be treated like full-time renters, but the card expiration date should match length of stay.) The Fox Point Community Library is located at 90 Ives Street.
