This exhibit is based on a Fall 2006 undergraduate research project on the history of radio at Brown. This exhibit is not just a timeline, it's about the students behind the stations, and the topics they explored. It's about why radio matters to them.

I've talked to alumni and learned what a huge impact BRU had on their professional and personal lives. A lot of alumni don't understand BRU now, but the spirit that was alive in the station in the 1930s is still alive.
— Rita Cidre, WBRU

I was a BRU listener growing up. When I talk to kids from other schools and tell them I’m a DJ, they say, "Oh, you do college radio." I say, "Well, not really." BRU is hard to describe because it’s so unique.
— Adam Vascancellos, WBRU

Princeton University's radio station changed the whole direction of my life. I got interested in music I never would have known existed without college radio. To call BRU a college station was unusual for me. When did it become necessary to have two stations?
— Jason Sigal, BSR

As current students, we’re trying to connect our experiences in radio to alumni's experiences in radio. As a woman with her own show at BSR, I’m interested in the history of women in radio.
— Jenny Weissbourd, BSR
