Raymond Clare Archibald papers, 1911-1958
The Raymond C. Archibald papers, covering the years 1911 to 1955, contain about 1800 items of correspondence, notes on research, and some manuscripts of articles and reviews. Reflected are Professor Archibald's concerns for the development of a comprehensive mathematical library at Brown University, his efforts on behalf of the Mary Mellish Archibald memorial Library at Mount Allison College, and his work as editor of Mathematical Tables and other Aids to Computations. The collection also contains some professional correspondence and material which touches upon Archibald's historical research. Because Professor Archibald stated in his will that his personal papers be destroyed upon his death, little of his professional correspondence is extant.Format(s): Manuscripts
