Japanese Literature and Zen Buddhist Philosophy

This collection includes significant books on Zen Buddhism, early 20th century Japanese literature, world literature in Japanese translation, and philosophy. One of the highlights is Shaka go-ishidaiki zue 日本語 釋迦御一代圖會i, a complete set of the first edition published in 1845. The six volumes show a highly stylized rendition of the life of the Buddha with illustrations by Hokusai 北斎 (1760-1849).
