Andrew Ashton has been appointed to the position of Director of Digital Technologies, effective December 1, 2010.
Andy came to Brown from Skidmore College in 2008 as the Senior Research Programmer for the Scholarly Technology Group (STG). He joined the Library in 2009 as a result of the integration of STG and the Women Writers Project into the Center for Digital Scholarship. Since that time Andy has been closely involved with a variety of Library projects, including the development of the Brown Digital Repository.
Andy holds a BA from Cornell, an MA in American History, and an MLS from the State University of New York at Albany. He has extensive experience developing technology infrastructure and interface tools for digital scholarship. Through-out his career Andy has published and presented on numerous topics germane to digital libraries, including service-oriented architectural approaches for digital scholarship tools, content syndication, and digital assets management.
