George Elliott

Interdisciplinary Opportunities Fellow

George Elliott is the interdisciplinary fellow for the 2020-2021 academic year. During his fellowship he is mainly focusing on and supporting the Sensory Monastery Project by aiding in the production of its website. He is also using his fellowship to support the digital components for his own dissertation, both a 3-D model of a 17th-century New England alchemical household and a large database of alchemical medicines. George’s interests are centered on the history of early modern science, alchemy, medicine, and 17th-century New England. His dissertation examines the household and alchemical as well as medical work of the famed colonial figure, Gershom Bulkeley. Originally from Indiana, he has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington and also a master’s from the University of Chicago.
