Fields of Hay: A Concentration Field Guide

R.ed Day at the Hay – May 1, 2018

To celebrate Brown alum Angela Lorenz’s ’87 exhibition of watercolors and ephemera, the John Hay Library hosted R.ed Day, a scavenger hunt using Lorenz’s inspiration for her most recent work. Twenty-six R.eds, red cloth figurines, hid all over the John Hay, and throughout the day, around 40 students participated in searching for R.ed on all three floors of the Library. Determined to find all 26 R.eds, many participants hunted throughout the library for over 40 minutes! Those who turned in their completed sheets entered a lottery for two movie passes to the Avon, a $50 gift certificate to Underground Coffee Co., or a $100 gift certificate Brown Bookstore.

R.ed hid in some great spots: grandfather clocks, all over the Stamp Room, in the cases of the Anne S.K. Brown Military Collection, in the bookshelves of the Bopp Room, in the Brown athletics exhibit in the Willis Room, and perched on the desk of the Special Collections Reading Room!
