
Miles Parks Grier (Ph.D. New York University) is Assistant Professor in the English Department at Queens College, in the City University of New York. He teaches Shakespeare, Early American Studies, and African-American Studies. He is currently working on a book called Reading Black Characters: Atlantic Encounters with Othello, 1604-1855, in which he traces race-thinking in the Atlantic world through the production of gendered and racialized characters used to delineate social types.
