The Liman Collection of Board Games and Puzzles

Wallis’s Tour Through England and Wales, a New Geographical Pastime

1794, John Wallis, London, England.

This is an example of an earlier map game, more complex and less visually entertaining than the ones produced in later decades. From the appearance of the first English geographical board game in 1759, games, puzzles, and ‘dissected maps’ began to supplement the teaching and education of upper- and middle-class children.
