Poetry from the Age of Mass Incarceration

Drolet

from 10/22/71

Oh! Lonely days, I finally see you fading away—In the midst of
morning dew, for me to see that our love is true.
Green leaves slowly swaying
Bright sunshine resting its heat upon my face
Proud old trees standing there—what a majestic sight!
I see the sleek and elegant deer from a near distance,
eating away what’s left of the green fields.
