In 1990, Robert Galkin (class of 1949) donated his international stamp collection to Brown University Library. This collection includes stamps from a largely encyclopedic selection of countries, ranging from the beginnings of global stamp production in the 1840s to 1990. In accordance with the donor’s wishes, the collection is not enlarged. In addition to stamps, the Galkin Collection holds various postal history materials, such as a small collection of commemorative Rhode Island covers (envelopes) and a collection of hand-drawn patriotic covers created by New Bedford, Massachusetts artist Clarence de Montigny.
