Timeline

Spring/Summer 2016

  • Conducted environmental scan of the broader context of library services at Brown
  • Reviewed and revised Library’s mission and vision statements
  • Drafted metrics in support of Building on Distinction and a set of “personas”/use cases
  • Drafted Library Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP)
  • Submitted Library report for Brown’s NEASC accreditation review

Fall 2016

  • Conducted Library self-study (facilitated by the Office of the Provost)
  • Held departmental discussions on accomplishments, strengths & weaknesses, opportunities & gaps, and future directions
  • Held Library-wide discussions on collections, spaces & facilities, student & faculty services, and staffing

Spring/Summer 2017

  • Submitted Library Self-Study Report to Provost and Academic Priorities Committee, January 2017
  • Received External Review Team Report, April 2017 (based on the team’s February 2017 on-site visit)
  • Began departmental discussions to identify and prioritize departmental goals

Summer/Fall 2017

  • Launched work to address the Library’s workplace climate (facilitated by Lainy Fersh, Community Matters)

Spring 2018

  • Launched Strategic Planning Design Team to coordinate the development of the Library’s 3-year strategic plan

Summer 2018

  • Target date for delivery of the Library’s strategic plan
