	Operettas The success of Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow on Broadway in 1907 revived interest in operetta. The Chocolate Soldier was joined in succeeding years by Victor Herbert's Naughty Marietta and Sweethearts, and Rudolf Friml's The Firefly. Straus, Oscar. The Chocolate Soldier. The Desert Song, inspired by the Riff revolt and by such popular novels and films as The Sheik, is one of the most lastingly popular, along with Rose-Marie, set in the Canadian Rockes. Both shows contributed such notable songs as The Desert Song, One Alone, Romance, Indian Love Call, and Rose-Marie.
