El bailongo del carao [The Dance of the Caraú]

In this piece, Birri playfully reinterprets the Argentine legend of the caráu, a bird whose sorrowful cry is said to result from a curse. In the traditional tale, a young man abandons his dying mother to attend a dance. As punishment for his selfishness, he is transformed into the caráu, condemned to mourn his loss forever through his haunting song. Birri blends this tragic folklore with festive, chaotic energy—transforming remorse into visual rhythm.
